Who is Trent Harris?
Trent Harris is an independent filmmaker based in Salt Lake City, Utah. He wrote and directed the offbeat 1991 comedy Rubin and Ed, in which Crispin Glover and Howard Hesseman wander the desert looking for a suitable place to bury a frozen cat. In 2001 he released The Beaver Trilogy, a compilation film that documents his obsession with a man called Groovin' Gary. The Beaver Trilogy features Sean Penn and Crispin Glover as Groovin' Gary in part two and part three, respectively. He also wrote and directed Plan 10 from Outer Space and Delightful Water Universe.

Filmmakers Trent Harris and Mel Halbach
Both of the participated in a panel discussion at UVSC about films dealing with war they had made. Trent's film was "The Cement Ball of Earth, Heaven and Hell" and dealt with Cambodia and the effort to remove landmines by a young man who had been involved previously with the Khmer Rouge, and Mel's film was "The Long Haired Warriors" and was about the plight of Vietnamese women who fought against South Vietnam and the American's and who were imprisoned, tortured, and humiliated by the South Vietnamese government.
